Chicago Chapter #2
Provides ‘Treats for the Troops’ and Goodies for the Community
The MPMA Chicago Chapter #2 members gathered together to bring cheer to the troops and their families during a series of Fall Festivities. At the Great Lakes Naval Station’s Hollywood Halloween Bowling Party, held on October 22nd 2014, party-goers joined the fun dressed as their favorite Hollywood scary character. The evening included Halloween tunes, a Costume Contest, bowling and movie watching at the Rynish Bowling & Entertainment Center on the base. Popcorn, candy and a variety of other treats were donated by the members of Chicago Chapter #2.
In support of Operation Gratitude, a variety of treats were collected and placed in care packages being shipped to our nation’s deployed troops serving overseas and in war zones. The Chapter also participated in the MarineParents.com Care Package Project – sponsoring care packages for deployed Marines, and sending cards – which arrived in time for the 239th Marine Corps Birthday and Veterans Day.
On Halloween, MPMA Chicago Chapter #2 donated 100 treat bags filled with goodies, school supplies, coloring books, comic books, toothbrushes and fire safety information to the ‘Trick or Treaters’ in the community and to the Ark of St. Sabina Community Center.
The fall outreach event was a HUGE success, thanks to donations from members of Chicago Chapter #2 and the MPMA Chicago Ladies Auxiliary, Coalition of Veterans Organizations (CVO), National Women Veterans United (NWVU), Chicago Police Department, Great Lakes Fire Department and Greenbay Family Dental Center (N. Chicago). ‘Special Thanks’ goes to Chicago Chapter #2 members Paul Knox, Jr. Vice-President, Mr. David Patton and Dr. Henderson, MPMA National Queen, 2013-15 for spearheading the fall outreach initiative.
